I work with adults only, treating a range of issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, relationship stress, life transition stress, maintaining a healthy relationship with substances, and more. For an outpatient weekly or bi-weekly therapist, via telehealth, the expectation is that the client is relatively stable and not in acute distress. This will be discussed and assessed in our free intro call.

Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or email me directly at info@mrobertsoncounseling.com. If I have room in my schedule, we will set up a free 15 minute intro call to make sure this is a good fit and that our schedules align. If needed, I can make recommendations for where to seek care elsewhere if this is not a good fit.

Please reach out for the most up-to-date list of insurance companies accepted and for out of pocket costs. I am licensed in Massachusetts so for all Telehealth appointments the client must be physically in Massachusetts for the therapy session.
Always call the number on your insurance card to confirm your financial responsibilities for copays, coinsurance, and/or deductibles.
All clients are required to have a credit card on file in their online electronic health record for charging out of pocket costs including late cancelation and no-show fees. All fees will be outlined in the new client paperwork.

I always recommend that people give therapy a try for at least 6-8 sessions with a new therapist to see if it is a good fit. Our initial sessions will include a lot of administrative overviews, history gathering, and developing a treatment plan. After then we can start the “work”. My approach is collaborative and relational. It is important a genuine rapport is established and that you feel it is a judgement-free safe space to do this important and meaningful work. I am always open to feedback and to working together to make sure you are getting the most out of your therapy sessions. I ask that all clients start out with weekly sessions so we can build momentum with your care. When appropriate, some clients will then drop down to every other week.

Telehealth is convenient for many clients. You can access therapy from anywhere in Massachusetts (I am only licensed to practice in MA) that has privacy and a strong internet connection. Clients can set aside an hour for therapy before work, during a lunch break, while a kid is napping, or parked in their car. On my end, I ensure privacy by working from a separate closed office space and with a white noise machine running outside the office door.
